The Twilight Zone

“Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.  For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.”  Psalm 90:2,4

Do you remember the show “The Twilight Zone“? It talks about life in a different dimension. The fifth dimension to be exact. It is a place lying between the pit of man’s fears and the summit of his knowledge. Do you ever wonder if God is in another dimension? God is not bound by our limitations. God is entirely unrestricted by time. His way’s are not our ways.

“There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man.  It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity.  It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge.  This is the dimension of imagination.  It is an area which we call…The Twilight Zone.”  (Twilight Zone Introduction)

We don’t have to visit the Twilight Zone to find God, he is right here with us and is known to man. We are going to look at Psalm 90 today and be able to contrast God’s eternal nature with our frailty.

Psalm 90 was written by Moses and is the oldest of the psalms.  Moses reminds us of our place in this world.  He reminds us we are not God and we are to remain submissive before our mighty King.

God’s eternal nature versus our finite nature. We are limited by time and should not waste time on earth living only for the moment. When God created the heavens and the earth, it was with the concept of eternity.  Have you ever tried to imagine how long eternity is?

“A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by”

Have you ever imagined what it would be like to write your eulogy?  Our time here on earth is limited and will go by fast. We do not know the number of days we have to leave our footprint on the earth. The number of days to do the work the King of Kings has given us to accomplish.

God has created each of us with unique gifts and talents to be used. We are to be good stewards of these gifts and share them with others. This is why I write. God has given me a gift with my writing, and I know it is His intention for me to share it with the world.  I am His gardener spreading seeds into the earth, and He will come and do the rest.

What do you want to do with your days?  How will you make your days count?

Heavenly Father who before the mountains were born, you brought forth the earth, we bow down before you at your feet and worship you.  We do not know the number of days we have on this earth to do the work you have given us to do; we desire to use our time wisely, give us the wisdom to do so.  Lord, hear my prayers.  Amen
