A Thanksgiving Prayer
Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm 107:8-9
Heavenly Father, I have asked for many things this year, and you have blessed me beyond measure. Today I want to ask for nothing but give thanks to you for everything. Thank you for mercy and grace, for forgiveness I have received without question. Thank you for my salvation, which I do not deserve, but you gave to me, a poor miserable sinner. Thank you for the promise of eternity. Thank you for your protection, even when I didn’t know I needed protection.
Thank you for my family and friends. For comforts I seldom thank you for. For clean water, a warm home, a table filled with healthy food. Thank you for the freedom to worship you without trouble and for the blessing of living in America.
Thank you for years of answered prayers. Thank you for the times you said no or wait; your wisdom far exceeds mine! Thank you for the good things you bestowed upon me without asking. Thank you for supplying all my needs, big and small.
Thank you for the beauty of nature, for the wind and the air, the trees and the sky, the clouds and rain, the sun and the moon. Thank you for the gifts of inspiration and the beauty of your Word. Thank you for a voice that sings your praises and knees that bow before you. Thank you for ears that hear your word and eyes that see the good in people.
Today I thank you not only for the good things but for the lessons learned and the growth received from times of trouble. Thank you for your tender heart and steady hand. Thank you for the peace which passes all understanding. Thank you for your light which shines in me.
Thank you, God – for EVERYTHING! In the name of God, the Father, the giver of life, Amen
