7 Habits of a Courageous Woman

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to do that “one thing”? Do you have a longing in your soul to step out and dare to be brave in your unique calling?

One way to uncover that “one thing” is to ask yourself this question:

If money and time were not an obstacle, what would you do with your life? What passion would you follow? What dream would you dare to dream?

“The root of the word courage is cor –the Latin word for heart. In one of its earliest forms, the word courage had a very different definition than it does today. Courage originally meant ‘To speak one’s mind by telling all one’s heart.’” – Brené Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection

In other words, to be courageous, we must be willing to live our truth and let others see our heart. We must be willing to trust God has not put that “one thing” in us to stay buried and never taken out of the box and shared with the world.

A Warrior of Hope is courageous and has these 7 attributes, I am betting you will see yourself in these truths:

  1. She is perfectly imperfect – to live our truth we must not hold onto that need to be perfect before we begin. God has told us that His power is made perfect in our weakness! (2 Corinthians 12:9)
  2. She is a fighterFor the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7). A courageous woman does not wait for someone to save her; she lives knowing that she has already been saved and stands and fights with confidence.
  3. She knows there is an enemy Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8). Be certain this knowledge does not make her fearful; it is what equips her to stand in the knowledge of a God that has already overcome the troubles of this world.
  4. She lives with her head in a book – The Word of God! Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (Joshua 1:8) Everything we need to know about life is in this one book. No instruction manual needed.
  5. She is a Prayer WarriorThis, then, is how you should pray “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptations, but deliver us from the evil one. (Matthew 6:9-13) We don’t need fancy prayers to show how courageous we are; this is how God has taught us to pray.
  6. She knows her place – in the heart of God. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. (Romans 8:14) Her confidence is seeded in this truth.
  7. She celebrates and encourages others But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. (Hebrews 3:13) I love it when women come together and support one another, wanting more for the woman next to them than for themselves.

God is calling us to RISE UP and BE COURAGEOUS. What is God calling you to specifically do? What steps are you ready to take to walk in your truth?

Let’s live our lives Beautifully Broken, Perfectly Imperfect, being honest and vulnerable about our fears, linking arms together and living out our “one” thing.

Heavenly Father, help us to live our ONE thing with passion and courage. Let us confidently take that step to do the next right thing to move our ministry, hope, passion, life to the next level. We stand on your promises for a future that is blessed and abundant. Thank you for creating in us a purpose and for giving us courageous hearts to live that purpose. Amen
