A Parade of Thanks
You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Isaiah 55:12
The annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City is the world’s largest parade. For many people, watching this parade is as important as having turkey on Thanksgiving! Did you know we have been celebrating life with parades since 3000 BC?
In the Message version of the Bible, this verse reads, “The mountains and the hills will lead the parade, bursting with song. All the trees of the forest will join the procession, exuberant with applause.” What has caused Isaiah to describe such a scene? Can you picture it, the floats and balloons that represent God’s creation?
When we turn to God, listen to Him, and let His Word do a work in us, joy and peace are the results. The joy is so great that the trees of the forest join in the march and the hills and the mountains break out in song! If nature can sing songs of worship to its Creator, how much more can we offer in celebration and thanks?
{A Warrior of Peace Marches in the Parade}
We don’t have to stand on the sidelines of New York and watch this parade go by. We can actively participate, marching with the mountains and the hills, bursting out in song, worshiping the King of Kings! Our exuberant applause to the God of all creation will echo in the universe. What is your
favorite way to praise the Lord?
Heavenly Father, I march forth in the parade of your creation, singing songs of praise for the life you have given me. Without the salvation you freely
offered to me, I would be desolate and lost. Your Word is my peace and my joy. Holy is your name in all the earth. May my applause please you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
