Share the Love Initiative
The Share the love initiative is a card ministry of the Vineyard Stop Trafficking ministry. We send out cards, bought and homemade, to survivors of human trafficking, prisoners, and others who need a touch of encouragement.
Our Vision Statement
In today’s world of text and instant messaging, a physical card you can hold in your hands stands out. We want the recipient of our cards to know that they stand out. That they are seen and valued. The Share the Love Initiative will send our cards, regularly, to the survivors of human trafficking, those in prison, and others who need a touch of God’s love to encourage them in their journey.
The message we are sending in our cards should not only convey the thoughts of the sender; it should also convey the love that is found in Jesus Christ.
When you take the time to write in a card personally, you are sharing care that is felt. When you sign your card, you are saying, “I have made time to see you, think about you, and pray for you today.” When you send a card, you are sending a piece of your heart.
As a Christian, you are not only sharing your heart but the heart of God. It tells the receiver of the card that you care, and so does God. The Word of God, when included in the card, gives true hope and encouragement. Not all cards need to include scripture, but it is always an option in our cards.
A card is one of the most welcomed forms of communication that conveys a heartfelt message in a non-threatening way. A physical card will provide a medium of hope and encouragement that can be kept and held onto forever.
The most important part of this initiative is to plant seeds of truth along with a caring, personal message. We want God’s pure love to penetrate the hearts of our recipients. We pray over each of our cards, knowing the Holy Spirit takes and applies the message in our cards to their individual needs. Because God is love, we can confidently share His love.
So, how can you get involved?
- The Card – You can either make your card or buy your cards. I like to purchase blank notecards from Dollar Tree. I can get six cards for $1! Check out the free resources at the bottom of this post for some free card making graphics.
- Write a personal message, a bible verse, or a combination of both inside your card. If we do not have specific recipients for the card, write your message in a way that would apply to anyone. If you struggle with what to write in your card, use my Card Making 101 sheet for ideas.
- Place the cards in envelopes w/o postage and not addressed to or from anyone. We will take care of that part for you. Package your cards up and place them in a separate envelope to deliver or mail to me. If you are not local to the Kansas City area, you can send them to me at Beautifully Broken PO Box 190 Smithville Mo 64089
- What happens to your cards? We will take care of sending them out to known survivors of human trafficking (our main focus), prisoners, and others in need of a word of encouragement.
- Donations. Yes, we would love donations of either cards, card making supplies, or postage. At this time, we cannot accept monetary donations.
- Pray over your cards – Finally, say a prayer over your cards, asking that they get to just the right person and that they would feel God’s love.
